MCR FF FEB 2018

#MCRFF FEB 2018

MCR Fashion Festival was inspired by the fact that despite Manchester’s growing fashion credentials the likes of global fashion designer Zeynep Kartal, are told that they should move to London to continue to climb the fashion ladder. Zeynep an adopted Mancunian, however loves Manchester and so refuses to move away from the city she calls home. After the MCR bombing Zeynep was devastated for her adopted home town and joined forces with Real PR to organise an event on the 5th October 2017 to raise funds for We Love MCR Fund. The event was a huge success. Manchester’s amazing spirit and the love for our beautiful city shone through, like it did with so many events following the dreadful bombing.

“Our love for Manchester as a city and the fact Zeynep has no platform to showcase her newest collections in her hometown inspired us to organise a fashion festival that would create an opportunity to celebrate the various rising stars and successful fashion houses that have come out of Manchester. We wanted to do this straight after London Fashion Week, but to do it the Manchester way, after all ‘We do things differently here!’”

“To have the support of global fashion designer, Zeynep Kartal, both as ambassador and to showcase her Autumn Winter 2018 Collection, straight off the London fashion week runway truly is a privilege and has given other designers faith to come onboard with the event.  Zeynep has dressed many celebrities including Lady Gaga, Cheryl, Michelle Keegan, Amanda Holden & Tess Daly. Only in the last few weeks you will have seen celebrities wearing Zeynep’s beautiful gowns at the NTAs and this week at the Grammys.”

Coronation Street’s Bhavna Limbachia is also an ambassador for MCR Fashion Festival. Bhavna was asked to support the event as she has a rich background in Fashion, with a degree in Costume Design and is passionate about supporting the Manchester Fashion industry.

As Real PR and Zeynep Kartal began working together to raise funds for an event for We Love Manchester Emergency Fund last year, they wanted to pay tribute to the Manchester 22 at MCR Fashion Festival so they invited, Faye Brooks & Gareth Gates Academy – Fates Academy to perform a rendition of ‘One Last Time’.

Showcasing alongside Zeynep Kartal was global designer’s such as Native Youth, who was named Drapers Young Fashion Brand of the year last year. The “Manchester-born-and-bred” brand has been worn by celebrities such as models Cara Delavigne, Kendall Jenner, and singer Zayn Malik.

Showcasing their stunning suits, were Long established and well-respected Bridge Street tailors Doherty, Evans & Stott along with Private White VC. The story of the designer Private White really shows how Manchester has progressed from its industrial days, where Jack White as a World War 1 hero, returned to become the founding father of the Manchester factory which now manufactures clothing in his name. They now serve customers such as actors Tom Hardy, Eddie Redmayne and Kevin Spacey. Rising stars on the runway included Kiki Minchin Jewellery, a favourite with celebrities such as Fearne Cotton & Peter Andre. OBD Clothing, who has recently launched the ‘Empowerment Range’ with Leanne Brown, to raise money for the charity One Women at a Time.
